Ashitaba and HIV/AIDS.
AIDS is a disease caused by an immunodeficiency virus named HIV. It causes the gradual death of immune cells and a decline in the host's immunity. As a result, one becomes immunodeficient, making one susceptible to various infections and eventual death. The result of recent research in Japan shows that the chalcone (Xanthoangelol) from ashitaba is effective in the treatment of HIV. The plant is reported to provide immune system stimulation, promote the healthy function of stomach and intestines, and has demonstrated anti-viral and anti-bacterial activity.
